What is racist, homophobic, prejudiced and not the GMC?

Show trials whilst parading the bodies of the dead and living dead. GMC news reports the case of "a doctor didn't attend their GMC hearing". So you thought you could just walk away and the GMC wouldn't notice you had not attended to hear their verdict on your "misconduct"?

If you don't turn up for your execution, or defend yourself in their show trial, the GMC will erase you and publicly drag your body through the streets. The GMC will highlight your case in their "warnings to doctors" with enough details for your friends, family, future employers and anyone with an ounce of initiative to find your identity. They will send your corpse to every doctor in the land trussed up in a copy of GMC News.

In the meantime the GMC lets those who help people to die in the name of the "palliative care" are allowed to practice with impunity. Step forward Robbie Powell's doctors and Dr Ann J Barton.

The extra- quasi-judicial sanctions of the GMC include

Death
1 - By harrying you to suicide. In 2003/4; 9 of 215 doctors prior to any hearing quasi-judicial investigation by the GMC died, three at least, were through suicide

2 - Deaths, disease and marriage breakup secondary to the stress of drawn out proceedings where your life is laid bare for every newspaper to devour. Eaton published a paper around 2004 on the mortality and morbidity associated with GMC proceedings. It was in the region of 30%

Living death
1 - Financial ruin
The Defence Unions run out on you, leaving you with legal bills that would sink a Rothschild. The GMC using its member subscriptions can bet the bank and its reserves, to raise enough complaints against you, until you and your family are homeless and destitute

2 - Reputational Ruin
The GMC allows enough misinformation to leak into the newspapers, not least through its own barristers' innuendos, to make Max Moseley blush.

3 - Clinical Ruin
Modern Prescreening employment forms ensure that even a minor brush with the GMC means you never work again.

Judge Michael will be soon be sitting, and like Judge Judy, he rehears cases that come before the General Medical Council and gives his own verdict. If, for example, your colleagues will not cooperate with your assessment, without which you get struck off, it is understandable that a naive, newly qualified young doctor might do something, that with, hindsight was silly. No one died, and there is more to this case than meets the eye. Yet the GMC have paraded this parody before the nation. Disproportionate is the word that comes to mind.

Makes a nonsense of confidentiality

Cheer up love, you are better off without them. And the answer to my question - "you think of something, I cant."

Dr Rita Pal

One or two doctors end up before the GMC because they are bad doctors, the rest are there because one way or another, the GMC doesn't like them.

The Labour Party doesn't like Shred Goodwin, but that doesn't mean they can take back the nice pension they gave him before they realised how upset everyone would be. They understand that they can't break the law. If only the GMC had such insight.

What is the difference between a GMC panellist and a GMC affiliate? In practical terms, not much, except the GMC affiliate will be more open about their loyalties.

Dr Steve Choong is a GMC panellist. aka Dr Lin Sun Choong Kam Chong BA MB BCh BAO MRCPsych MBA (beware of people with more than one name!) Dr Steve Choong has been anything but open about his loyalties, and he is not even a GMC affiliate, whose job would be to look after GMC interests within the Trusts.

Steve was involved in representing his Trust in disclosing material about Dr Pal to the GMC because she wrote (or rather repeated) information already in the public domain and put a link in her blog? - Yes, it really is that trivial!

The NHS has become a place of petty fiefdoms, politics and local dictators. When standards fall, usually because the wrong people are in charge, individuals have gained unreasonable political power at the expense of the community. This is often the case of the Medical Directors and the "soon to be Doctor Chief Executives".

The GMC likes these "Yes Men" and "Yes Women" because they are "people like us". In the same way that NuLabour likes people like Mr Findlay Scott and Mr Catto.

No one can be too careful. I personally have requested all the personal information that the GMC has about the Data Protection Act. They have had my money for well over 40 days.

Their first attempt did not include, amongst other things, any of the details of the volumous correspondence I have had with them over the years about doctors' mental health. I can't believe they lost it all. I complained and I am now dealing with the GMC, DPA Complaints Department. Yes they have a Complaints department.

Tomorrow's Doctors... but where are Tomorrow's Patients?

Mr Catto presided over a Day of Consultation, Introspection and Self-congratulation from the General Medical Council discussing Tomorrow’s Doctors. He managed to orchestrate a full days navel gazing, with one lay speaker and without a single mention of Tomorrow’s Patient. Apart from a couple of token medical students it was a day out with the over-60’s branch of Saga’s Scottish physicians. Not a surgeon in sight! Rather like Tomorrow’s World running a programme on Stone Age Britain, Mr Catto told us what he and his cronies thought about Tomorrow’s Doctors, and let us comment on his ideas. All boxes were ticked.

It is difficult to know where to start – Plus la change, plus la meme chose

Tomorrow’s Doctors are employees of the State and governed and managed by the NHS. They will know no other life. Technicians and public servants trained to work in the NHS with no jobs and no mercy for dissenters in a world where your doctor places the needs of the State above those of private individuals. The doctor acts as henchman, reporting dissident colleagues and disobedient patients in equal measure.

Tomorrow’s Doctors will treat patients according to Good Medical Practice. Good Medical Practice is the GMC’s version of Standard English Medical Practice. It may be a key document, but it is key to the Soma intoxicated chemical future of Huxley’s Brave New World.

Politics, immediacy and expediency have take the place of service and standards.

Tomorrows Doctors will be polite to patients, they will appear to listen and act in the patients’ interest but they will not know who they are outside medicine. Because they will sign up to a code of conduct which prescribes appropriate behaviour for every occasion. They will be medical automatons, trained to obediently follow guidelines rather than educated in the principles of health and disease.

Their understanding of Alternative and Complementary medicine may not be earth shattering but they will deconstruct double blind clinical trials of Upsidownsi-Doobyazole in their sleep. Meanwhile tomorrow’s Patients choose between homeopathy, osteopathy, a chiropractor, Alexander therapist egoscue and Pilates for their back pain. Whether they go to Tomorrow’s Doctor is debatable. Are patients happy with the NHS? Will they pop across the Channel? Turn to the private sector or go to complementary therapists?

Where will Tomorrow’s Patient get their health care information? Twitter or the Library? Who will they see and how will they suffer? Will they learn about their kidneys at school or from the Internet? Will they go to India or China for a second opinion? Already some patients are better informed than their doctors, this looks unlikely to change..

Mr Catto will be remembered for peacefully transforming a profession from imperfect autonomous medical practitioners to docile State Employees working for a Monopoly Employer. He has abolished GMC elections, overseen reorganisation of the National Health Service, given the Nation’s medical records to the government and handed over 150 years of independence to the first person who offered him a knighthood. He could do this because, like Anurin Bevan before him, he stuffed the doctors’ mouths with gold. UK doctors and GPs are the best paid in Europe and with some US exceptions, in the world.

There was one light-hearted moment before Mr Catto fessed up to his big secret. He let out his concerns about the impact of the Internet and the blogocracy. (Well done Dr Rita Pal!) And his big secret? he wants a private income. We have no doubt that Professor Doggo, like Mr Blair, will receive his 30 pieces of silver from Directorships, Big Pharma and Big Food.

The Fourth R

The fourth R

Politicians, Teachers, Scientists, Academics and Doctors have lost their Fourth R. The results emerge daily from Government Departments, from Health to Education, from the Home Office to Foreign Office and from the Treasury.

The Fourth R shows the Emperor’s nakedness and demonstrates that “fine words butter no parsnips”. Without it, we are helpless in the hands of experts, headless in the face of specialists and technologists and hopeless in the face of injustice.

The Four R’s are:

Reasoning, Reading, 'Riting and 'Rithmetic

Reasoning keeps society safe from lying politicians and cheating Charlatans. It is the foundation of Justice and looks for what is reasonable. It is a major defence against the onslaught of the Orwellian New World Order

It seems we have lost our Reason. In the current climate, if it is not restored quickly, we will face the fifth R of progress - Revolution.

Make The GMC Accountable, The Remedy is in your Hands

"Self regulation is dead and long may it remain dead"


Professor, Sir, Lord, Master at Legs, Wizard of the 29th d'Greed Catto declaimed in July 2007, at an MPS conference.


The General Medical Council is an unelected (elections were abolished towards the end of 2006) unaccountable, self appointed Nu Labour quango with a policy to cull and kill doctors "Pour encourager les autres"


THE GMC AT WORK




The GMC is ably supported in this role by the British Medical Association, the Royal Colleges, The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges, the Department of Health and any crackpot organisation that has a grudge against doctors.


As long as a doctor only ever does the "The Wrong kind of Misconduct" they can slice up babies in their backyards. On the other hand if a doctor thinks a thought outside NICE guidelines, they will be publicly keel-hauled. If they want a job in the UK because they happen to be a good doctor, they will thrown on the scrap heap.


"The Wrong Kind of Misconduct" is Nu Speak for allowing Medical Managers to be unaccountable and protected from complaints to the GMC. It is called being on the Medical Register but temporarily putting your license to practice aside in order to slip through the net of being a trustworthy and honest person. No worries, if you ever have to step down from being a Medical Manager, your license to practice is being kept nice and clean in GMC towers.


Remedy UK is challenging Medical Management in the GMC. The GMC decided that it was OK to be an utterly incompetent manager as long as you didn't do it anywhere near a patient. As if, all of a sudden, the only thing that affected a patient's chance of survival was the doctor in the room at the moment the patient died.


Remedy UK is challenging the GMC to make Management accountable. You know - the type of management that is busy protecting private practice, handing lucrative contracts to their speculator friends and destroying the NHS.


This same management has destroyed the career structure of doctors. What better way to undermine UK medicine than by making sure that the training schemes are oversubscribed and rubbish. It breaks my heart, when I qualified, young British doctors were considered the best in the world. Years of corrupt medical management and now MTAS will make certain we can never again write our qualifications with pride.


This is a message for everyone who is a) a doctor, b) knows any doctors and c) is ever likely to need a doctor
